Family history is a pursuit which cannot be followed in isolation. Indeed, there are usually so many interweaving strands of investigation by different researchers that it is impossible to identify who exactly did what. We offer our thanks to the family history community at large who have contributed to our work in this way. However, the following individuals deserve more than a generalised thank-you. They have provided either significant quantities of information or help that went beyond the call of obligation. If there is someone you would like to contact, but there is no contact information listed, please let us know by e-mail on bethellj@talk21.com and we will see if we can put you in touch...

Jean Fisher of Christchurch, New Zealand collaborated extensively with us on the Holmes and Waite lines, providing the majority of the information on the Piercey, Milner and Lyon branches.
Anne Weyers has revealed even more about the Milner family in East Yorkshire.
Andrew Solomon of Hull has collaborated on the Husband family, providing particularly valuable leads for the Race and Raw branches.
David Bethel of Leicester (who is not a relative, at least not as far as we can prove) has provided valuable details of our Bethell ancestors. He must be regarded as the guru of Bethell family history in Britain and his book ( ‘An Industrious People: A Celebration of the Bethell Families,’ published 1992 by The Book Guild Ltd., Temple House, 25 High Street, Lewes, Sussex; out of print late 1995; ISBN 0 86332 699 4) is a mine of information. He has extensive files which supplement and in some cases supersede the information in the book.
Sheila Dowdell in Canada is a source of mutual support in sorting out our Moody and Munro ancestors in Lincolnshire.
Sonja Smith (who runs the Winship One-Name Study and is co-author of the excellent Custodian software) has been extraordinary helpful, and not just with our Winship ancestors.
Paul Middleton and Mavis Elliott in Australia share our Middleton and Winship roots and have provided the details of the Australian Middleton branches which we would otherwise have been ignorant of.
Yvonne Morris of Liverpool is another keen Winship researcher who has contributed to our current understanding.
Pat Prior and Jenny Towey have worked with us to try to to unravel the link between our Holmes line and the enigmatic Witherweek/Withernwick family.
The indomitable Malcolm Clegg has been a wonderful source of anything connected with Birstall, near Leeds. This includes not only the Clegg ancestors which we share, but also the Ryder and Wallis families.
Marguerite Ellbourn (until her untimely death) in Australia and Rowland Hill from Tyneside have collaborated with us on our Watson line in Northumberland.
Christoper McAnelly from Tyneside has helped with the McAnelly connection and the Brotherton family. John Wintrip has provided more about the Brothertons.
Debbie Fernando is an industrious collaborator on the Botheroyd/Boothroyd line.
Sue Bodsworth is descended from a sister of John Bethell's great grandfather. It is thanks to the considerable efforts of her family that we now have the handsome photo that now adorns our homepage.
